The ART-ventures programs will meet from 4-5pm at Memorial School (310 Main Street, Wilbraham).
Monsters and Mermaids Fantasy ART-Ventures: Thursdays March 25 - May 20 (no class 4/22) - Grades 2-3
Pay no attention to that fire-breathing dragon! Wielding paintbrushes, brave art explorers journey into a fairytale kingdom, where fairies flit through rainbow skies and zany zombies roam the streets. Encounter fantastical creatures, both spooky and sweet, while conjuring up bedazzling art: Decorate wicked cool witch or wizard hats and sculpt clay witches or wizards on broomsticks! Design colorful ceramic skulls inspired by Dia De Los Muertos and paint unicorn or dragon banks. Craft monster t-shirts and create sparkling castles on canvases. Make hand puppet mermaids, vampires, fairies, werewolves, or any creature you can imagine. Using some very magical potions and spells (i.e. materials and techniques), art-venturers experience painting, drawing, sculpting, printmaking, ceramics, fabric art, and more. Enchanting two and three dimensional masterpieces are brought home each week. Fun, fantasy-filled art-ventures!
ART-ventures Around the World: Tuesdays March 23 - May 18 (no class 4/20) - Grades K-1
Art travelers go n a whirlwind tour of the world, traveling among different countries and cultures. Create hot air balloon lanterns to take you up and away! Each week we land somewhere in the world and create wicked cool cultural art using unique materials and artisans' techniques. In Puerto Reico, we work with clay and make wacky Vejigante masks. We design with Mosiacs in Greece, make Tribal Rain Sticks in Australia, and create Maracas in Brazil, just ot name a few. Fun facts about each country and culture, geography and art history are included. The only thing kids need to pack is their imagination!
Registration - March 2-14 (late fees apply after March 14)
